Gown FAQ

There are a lot of things to consider before making a purchase for your special occasion. Helene's is here to help you answer some of your questions regarding formal wear:

Q: When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
A: Delivery of a wedding dress generally takes 3 to 6 months, so we recommend you being the process at least 6 to 8 months in advance of your wedding date.

Q: My wedding is less than 3 months away. What do I do?
A: We have many in-stock gownsthat can be purchages and restored as close as possible to its original condition. We can also special order your gown as a rush for an additional surcharge, from certain manufacturers.

Q: What should I bring to my fitting?
You should wear the undergarment sand shoes that you will wear on your wedding day for the fitting process to proceed properly.

Q: Why does my special order gown not fit my perfectly?
A: Dresses are ordered to the closest size of the manufacturers size chart based on your measurements. Alterations are usually required for an exact fit.

Q: Is there a charge for alterations?
A: Yes, alterations are extra. We employ skilled in-house seamstresses who will alter your wedding gown for a perfect fit. Prices depend on the work involved.

Q: Members of my bridal party live out of town –how do we arrange to fit their dresses?
All we need is their measurements, personal information and required deposit. Once the dress arrives we will ship it, as per their instructions (e.g. FedEx), for alteration by their own dressmaker. We recommend that measurements are taken by the seamstress that will do the alterations, for greater certainty of measurement accuracy.
